Getting out of my shell

If 5 years ago you told me
I’d be telling jokes and singing in front of an audience.
I wouldn’t have believed you.

5 year old me certainly would have, she was unstoppable.
But somewhere along the way I found myself nice and cozy in my shell.
Fearful of shaking things up.

Almost 30 years into this crazy ride, and I’m ready to make a mess. 
I’ll be damned if I don’t share my story along the way.
Thanks for being here for it.

One year ago, I opened up for Major Mit’s solo show.

Yeah, that’s my rockstar dad.
And yeah, I told jokes and sang a song.
Among hula hoop & contortion things.

Wouldn’t trade any of them for the world.

Pro tip: leave some space between hula hoops and vocals, not the easiest transition.
